Thine is the Kingdom, The Power and the Glory

Some of us say these words daily, but how many of us stop to think about what they really mean?  When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He told them to acknowledge these truths.

Thine is the Kingdom – Earlier, he told his disciples to pray for the coming of the kingdom, so that His will could be done on earth even as it is in heaven.  In order for that to happen, God needs a people willing to be in obedience to His word.  Not just to have a knowledge of His ways but to live our lives according to His word.  This way, just as in heaven, his subjects are completely obedient to Him, he will have a Kingdom on Earth, over which he reigns supreme.  remember, the word of God teaches us that “The Lord knoweth them that are his”  (2nd Timothy 2:19) and “If any one has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His” (Rom 8:9) God’s Kingdom is established, and we are blessed to be His subjects.  Let us walk worthy.

Thine is the Power – Jesus instructs us to recognize where all power lies.  When Jesus says thine is “THE” power (and not just “A” power), He is letting us now the God has supreme power of everyone and anything, and the only power that exists out of this power is what God allows.  Truly all things are made by Him and for Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.  And also two very poignant truths the bible declares should cause us to rejoice.

  1. 1.       Jesus says “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”(Luke 10:19).
  2. 2.       Jesus declared after He rose, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matt 28:18)

These two scriptures confirm the facts that Jesus is the One True God, being that “Thine is THE power”, and HE has ALL power, and also that He has transferred the power to us, and has given us GREATER power than the enemy.  Thank you Lord!!!

Thine is the Glory – The Glory belongs to God.  He said “my Glory will I not give to another” (Isa 42:8, Isa 48:11).  There is not another being nor image that can house or handle the full Glory of God.  With Glory comes responsibility.  While we may have honor bestowed upon us for different reasons, the thing we must understand is that it is for something that we have achieved, or some title we may hold.  However, there is NO WAY we can handle the Glory that God receives.  His glory comes because He is the Lord and Creator of all, and the redeemer of all those that come to him.  He heals diseases, opens doors, makes ways out of no way.  Simply, we cannot achieve His level of Glory because we can NOT do these things for ourselves, nor for anyone else.  But when we think of who God is, we worship Him.  When we see what He does, we praise Him.  This is the true Glory that God deserves.

Today, let us focus upon His Kingdom, Power and Glory and give praise unto His Name

Open Door

The concept of an “open door” can mean many things.  In some cases, it is a most welcome thing; especially if that door was previously locked or secured in some manner.  An open door means I have access to what is on the other side.

In some cases, however, the open door may seem daunting, as is often the case if the door leads to the unknown.  Sometimes, if what is on the other side is unfamiliar and potentially uncomfortable territory, we hesitate or even are reluctant to walk through the door which has been opened for us.

Whenever Jesus opens a door for us, it is ALWAYS for a reason according to His plan.  We must always remember that Paul declares in Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”  God’s purpose and plan for us is always perfect.  Although sometimes we cannot see the goodness in His plan while we are going through it, we must believe that in the end, God will work it out for us.

God executes His plan in our lives by using these doors to control our pace.  Closed doors keep us from running ahead of God and his plan for us personally.  We must stay where we are, and accomplish what God needs for us to accomplish before we move on.  Think about when you were in school.  You could not move on to High School until you’ve learned all the lessons from Middle School.  The truth of the matter is that you will need all the lessons from the previous grade in order to function in the next grade.  And in Gods Kingdom, unlike in school, there are no “social promotions”.  God will allow you to repeat the lessons until you’ve learned what you needed to learn to accomplish His plan.  Just like school, at some point you will be expected to apply what you have learned in real life situations.  God expects no less from His children.

The wonderful thing about the declaration of Jesus:

I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. (Rev 3:8)

The wonderful thing is the word “SET”.  When God sets a door open, no one can close it.  Whether it is a door to healing of sickness, recovery from a bad situation, or best of all, another level to the ministry that God has given you, the open door is there.  Don’t be afraid to walk through.  Consider:

  • ·         I know thy works –  Like an instructor, God has put tasks before us, and He knows how we’ve handled them.  We must strive to accomplish His tasks in a way that is pleasing to Him
  • ·         I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it –  Since you did the work well, it’s time to be promoted.  Jesus will open the door and no man can shut it.  Regardless of how others feel about it, what God has for you, it is for you!
  • ·         for thou hast a little strength, – What you have gone through has built you up enough to handle what is on the other side of the door.  God was preparing you.
  • ·         and hast kept my word –  Through everything on this side of the door, you stayed faithful to God and to His word.  We have a responsibility to stay strong for God so we can show the world that His Word is perfect.
  • ·         and hast not denied my name – Tell me who can stand before us when we call on that great name!!!!  the Name of the Lord is a strong tower. (Prov 18:10)  And at the Name of Jesus, every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!! (Phil 2:10) For there is no other Name given under heaven by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

Go through that open door that God has set.  Be not afraid, for the Lord is with you.
