Some of us say these words daily, but how many of us stop to think about what they really mean? When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He told them to acknowledge these truths.
Thine is the Kingdom – Earlier, he told his disciples to pray for the coming of the kingdom, so that His will could be done on earth even as it is in heaven. In order for that to happen, God needs a people willing to be in obedience to His word. Not just to have a knowledge of His ways but to live our lives according to His word. This way, just as in heaven, his subjects are completely obedient to Him, he will have a Kingdom on Earth, over which he reigns supreme. remember, the word of God teaches us that “The Lord knoweth them that are his” (2nd Timothy 2:19) and “If any one has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His” (Rom 8:9) God’s Kingdom is established, and we are blessed to be His subjects. Let us walk worthy.
Thine is the Power – Jesus instructs us to recognize where all power lies. When Jesus says thine is “THE” power (and not just “A” power), He is letting us now the God has supreme power of everyone and anything, and the only power that exists out of this power is what God allows. Truly all things are made by Him and for Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. And also two very poignant truths the bible declares should cause us to rejoice.
- 1. Jesus says “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”(Luke 10:19).
- 2. Jesus declared after He rose, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matt 28:18)
These two scriptures confirm the facts that Jesus is the One True God, being that “Thine is THE power”, and HE has ALL power, and also that He has transferred the power to us, and has given us GREATER power than the enemy. Thank you Lord!!!
Thine is the Glory – The Glory belongs to God. He said “my Glory will I not give to another” (Isa 42:8, Isa 48:11). There is not another being nor image that can house or handle the full Glory of God. With Glory comes responsibility. While we may have honor bestowed upon us for different reasons, the thing we must understand is that it is for something that we have achieved, or some title we may hold. However, there is NO WAY we can handle the Glory that God receives. His glory comes because He is the Lord and Creator of all, and the redeemer of all those that come to him. He heals diseases, opens doors, makes ways out of no way. Simply, we cannot achieve His level of Glory because we can NOT do these things for ourselves, nor for anyone else. But when we think of who God is, we worship Him. When we see what He does, we praise Him. This is the true Glory that God deserves.
Today, let us focus upon His Kingdom, Power and Glory and give praise unto His Name
